Whenever we are to multiply two numbers then most of the time we undergo long calculations , and if we have to do easy calculation then we were lucky.
But what to do when we have to multiply two numbers in very short time. Suppose we have to multiply 32 with 11 then it is easy, because just put right most digit as it is and then increase every digit by one to left and at last put the left most digit as it is and put 352 as answer.
Example
If we are to multiply 65 with 43 Then
Step 1
Multiply right most digits with each other if result
is less 10 then put it as right most digits of your answer and if result
is greater than 10 then put unit place of result and carry forward the unit place to next step, as
follows
In this case 5 * 3 =15 here 5 will considered and 1 will be carry forwarded to next step
In this case 5 * 3 =15 here 5 will considered and 1 will be carry forwarded to next step
Step 2
Add the carry forwarded number and multiplication
of outermost and innermost numbers and then put unit place of result and carry forward the unit place to next step, as
follows
(6*3) + ( 5*4)
= 18+20 = 38
Now add carry
forwarded number from previous step
38 + 1 = 39
Step 3
Now add the carry forwarded number to the product of left most numbers and put the result to the left of step 2 ‘s answer
6*4 = 24
Now add
carry forwarded number 3 to 24 as follows
write here red coloured number from right to left while going bottom to top
NOW
FINAL ANSWER IS
2795
Another Example
84 × 48
Step 1
Multiply unit places with each other 4×8=32
Write 2 as left most digit of answer and 3 as carry forwarded
Step 2
Multiply and
add innermost and outermost numbers
Multiply 4 × 4 and 8 × 8 i.e
16 + 64 = 80
And add 80 + 3 = 83
Put 3 to the left of 2 as obtained in step 1 and carry forwarded 8 to next step
Step 3
Multiply 8 × 4
= 32 and add 8 to it , we get 40
consider red coloured digits.
So FINAL ANSWER is 4032
Last Example
98 × 76
Step 1
8 × 6 = 48 write 8
and carry as 4
Step 2
9 × 6 + 8 × 7 = 54
+ 56 = 110
Add 4 to it 110 + 4 = 114
Write 4 and
carry forwarded 11
Step 3
9×7 = 63
Add 11 to it
11 + 63 = 74
Final answer
is 7448
Quick look at this Example 78×57 to Multiply two numbers quickly
Step 1
Multiply Right most digits 8 and 7 with each other to get product 56. So keep 6 as right most digits of answer and 5 as carry forward to next step.
Step 2
Now add the product of Outer most ( 7 with 7 ) and Inner most (8 with 5 ) digits ,and add the carry forwarded number from previous step 1. i.e. ( 7×7 ) + (8 ×5 ) = 49 + 40 = 89 + 5( Carry from previous step ) = 94. So keep 4 as second digit from right of answer and 9 as carry forward to next step.
Step 3
Now Multiply Left Most digits 7 and 5 to get product 35, Add the carry forwarded number 9 from previous step to 35 to get 44. Put this number 44 as 3rd and 4th digits from right of the answer.
So Final Answer will be 78 × 57 = 4446
